Locally Raised. Survivor Selected. Built for the Mid-South.
Our spring nucs or nucleus colonies are raised right here in Northwest Mississippi from our own overwintered colonies.

What is a 5-Frame Nucleus Colony?
A 5-frame nucleus colony, commonly called a nuc, is a small, established honey bee colony that can be transferred directly into a full-size hive. Many beekeepers prefer nucs over package bees because the colony is already functioning and organized.
Unlike package bees, a nuc already has drawn comb, brood, honey, pollen, and an active, laying queen. This allows the colony to grow faster, establish more quickly, and begin building strength immediately after installation.
Each 5-frame nucleus colony includes:
• Five deep frames
• A mated, laying queen
• Brood in multiple stages including eggs, larvae, and capped brood
• Honey and pollen stores
• A healthy population of worker bees actively tending the colony
This structure gives you a working hive from day one and helps reduce early-season challenges.
Russian Hybrid Honey Bees in Tennessee & Mississippi
Our nucleus colonies are raised from Russian hybrid honey bee stock that we use in our own apiaries. These bees are well suited for beekeeping in Tennessee and North Mississippi and perform well in our regional climate.
Russian hybrid bees are known for strong overwintering ability, reliable honey production, natural resilience, and a balanced temperament when properly managed. If you are looking for Russian hybrid bees for sale in Mississippi or Tennessee, these nucs are an excellent option.
Spring Availability & Reservations Process - 2026
We raise a limited number of 5-frame nucleus colonies each spring to ensure quality and colony strength. Because of this, availability is limited.
Since bees develop on their timeline — not a fixed calendar — we use a structured reservation process.
Nucs are $225
Step 1 – Join the Priority List
Submit the form above or below to join the Spring 2026 priority list. No payment is required at this time.
Step 2 – Deposit Invitation - $75 non-refundable deposit. Balance paid at pickup.
When nucs are approximately 2–3 weeks from readiness, we will contact buyers in the order they signed up with instructions to submit a non-refundable deposit to secure their nuc(s).
If deposits fill all available nucs, additional signups will be placed on a standby list and contacted if a reservation becomes available due to unpaid deposits. We will inform you as soon as you sign up as to what list you are on. Currently people who sign up are on the list for a nuc.
Step 3 – Pickup Scheduling
Once colonies are fully ready, we will provide pickup dates, final balance details ($150), and instructions.
In Northwest Mississippi and the Memphis area, nucs are typically ready late April through early May, depending on weather and queen mating success.
