We will have a limited number of 5-frame nucleus colonies for sale this spring for beekeepers in Memphis, Tennessee and North Mississippi. Our bees are locally raised and carefully managed to give both new and experienced beekeepers a strong, healthy start to the season.

What is a 5-Frame Nucleus Colony?
A 5-frame nucleus colony, commonly called a nuc, is a small, established honey bee colony that can be transferred directly into a full-size hive. Many beekeepers prefer nucs over package bees because the colony is already functioning and organized.
Unlike package bees, a nuc already has drawn comb, brood, honey, pollen, and an active, laying queen. This allows the colony to grow faster, establish more quickly, and begin building strength immediately after installation.
Each 5-frame nucleus colony includes:
• Five deep frames
• A mated, laying queen
• Brood in multiple stages including eggs, larvae, and capped brood
• Honey and pollen stores
• A healthy population of worker bees actively tending the colony
This structure gives you a working hive from day one and helps reduce early-season challenges.

Our nucleus colonies are raised from Russian hybrid honey bee stock that we use in our own apiaries. These bees are well suited for beekeeping in Tennessee and North Mississippi and perform well in our regional climate.

We raise a limited number of nucleus colonies each spring to ensure quality and colony strength. Because of this, availability is limited and reservations typically fill quickly.
Reservations will open in early March. Pickup will take place in the spring, based on weather and colony readiness. Pickup will be available in the Memphis, Tennessee and North Mississippi area. Nucs will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis once reservations open.
